Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 28, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Nobleman (the "App"). This App is developed and operated by Johannes Forseth ("we," "our," or "the Developer"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have full control over your personal recovery journey.
Our Core Promise: We operate on a "Local-First" architecture. This means your personal entries, journal logs, and assessment data are stored directly on your device. We do not have access to your personal journal entries or recovery status.
2. Information We Collect & How We Store It
A. Personal Data (Stored Locally)
We prioritize your privacy. The following sensitive data is stored locally on your device (using AsyncStorage or similar local database technologies) and is not transmitted to the Developer's servers:
- Onboarding Data: Answers regarding age, addiction frequency, and goals.
- Journal & Check-Ins: Your daily mood, urge tracking, text entries, and relapse history.
- Custom Triggers: Personal triggers you identify within the App.
Important Note on Backups: Since this data is stored on your device, it may be backed up to your personal cloud storage (e.g., Apple iCloud or Google Drive) if you have device backups enabled. This data is subject to the security and encryption standards of Apple or Google, and we do not have access to decrypt these backups.
B. Subscription Data (Processed by Third Parties)
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and validate payments. We do not process payments directly.
- Payment Information: All financial transactions are handled securely by the Apple App Store. We never see or store your credit card, banking, or billing information.
- Subscription Identifiers: To unlock premium features (e.g., "Nobleman Pro"), we share an anonymous App User ID and your subscription status (active/expired) with RevenueCat. This allows us to sync your pro status if you restore purchases.
C. Device Permissions
The App may request permission to send you Push Notifications (for daily check-in reminders). You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information described above solely to:
- Provide Core Functionality: To calculate your streaks, display your journal history, and visualize your recovery timeline locally on your screen.
- Verify Purchases: To determine if you have a valid subscription to access premium content.
- Improve Stability: We may receive anonymous crash reports (via Apple) to help us fix bugs. These reports do not contain your personal journal content.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We do not use behavioral tracking pixels (like Facebook Pixel).
The App links to third-party platforms:
- Discord: Our community is hosted on Discord. If you join, your interactions, username, and data on that server are governed entirely by Discord's Privacy Policy. We do not control Discord’s data retention or moderation practices.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: Because your personal data is stored locally, it is retained on your device for as long as you have the App installed.
- Deletion: You have the right to delete your data at any time. To do so, simply delete the App from your device. This will permanently erase all local journal entries, streaks, and settings. This action is irreversible.
6. Age Limitations and Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.
- Minors (13-17): If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, you represent that you have obtained parental consent to use this App.
- Removal of Data: If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at [email protected].
7. GDPR & European User Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights regarding your personal data.
- Right to Access/Rectify/Erase: Since we do not store your personal data on our servers, we cannot "export" or "delete" it for you. You have full control: you access your data by opening the App, and you erase it by deleting the App.
- Data Controller: For the purposes of GDPR, Johannes Forseth is the Data Controller.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
9. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
